I joined IDFC FIRST Bank three years ago in May 2021 with a background in Trade Forex. I started working as a Branch Relationship Manager in Retail Banking at the BKC Naman Chambers branch. Dealing with individual clients in Wealth Management and Product Sales was a new challenge for me – a complete departure from my previous experience. 

The first six months were both exciting and challenging, as I learned the ropes catering to high volume and sensitive clientele. I had to quickly adapt to handling escalations and building relationships. During this time, the Bank was experimenting with new technologies to improve client interactions. I was thrilled to be part of this innovative phase, providing feedback and helping shape the Bank’s digital approach.

As I learnt over time, I continued working hard focused on elevating my growth and performing well consistently. After spending three enriching years in Retail Banking, I was drawn back to my roots in Corporate Banking. I was already managing a mix of Retail and Wholesale Banking clients, which provided me with the opportunity to interact with the Wholesale Banking team and understand more about that business.

With the Bank’s support, I explored internal opportunities to enable my transition into corporate roles. While I initially considered a few roles, I soon realized that my true passion lies in client interaction and sales. Owing to the strong references from my colleagues recognising my work ethic and performance, I smoothly moved into my current role in Wholesale Banking. 

In my current role, I cater to a large SME segment of Corporate Banking clients which is a new and exciting challenge, filled with limitless learnings and growth opportunities. At IDFC FIRST Bank, we are consistently expanding, hence providing immense scope to explore new avenues and introduce innovative solutions based on client feedback. Being part of the Bank’s journey from Retail Banking to Corporate Banking, has been a path filled with learning and adapting to new challenges.

Beyond the day-to-day banking operations, I've also had the opportunity to participate in the Bank’s social initiatives. Recently, I played a key role in an interaction, organized between our MD and children from an orphanage at our BKC Branch. The session focused on financial literacy, and it was very heartwarming to see the children’s enthusiasm and eagerness to learn about the Bank’s operations and growth. For them, we served as a source of inspiration, and it was incredibly fulfilling to be part of an event that highlighted the Bank’s commitment to be a force for social good.

My journey at IDFC FIRST Bank has been one of constant growth and engagement, not just with clients, but also with the Bank's leadership. A unique aspect of working here is the direct interaction we have with the MD and other members of the management. We have regular interactions with the leadership, which allows us to provide direct feedback to the relevant teams and to the MD, which is incredibly empowering. I feel proud that as an Associate Relationship Manager, I have the power to influence the direction of the Bank's offerings and have my voice heard regardless of hierarchy. This open dialogue with senior management has been a significant motivator for me. Knowing that my input is valued and can lead to real change, has given me the confidence and encouragement to build a long-term career with the Bank.

Direct interaction with the senior management, including the MD, is incredibly welcoming and empowering, providing a platform for genuine feedback and change.
