My journey with IDFC FIRST Bank started back in 2020, after pursuing my MBA from NMIMS Mumbai. As part of the Management Trainee cohort, all aspects were well structured from the get-go. The approachability of everyone, from IT to HR, made everything even more seamless. Even though the team was smaller when I joined, the convenience and support never felt lacking. Everyone was just an ask away, ready to help with even the most basic queries.

Our team has since grown significantly, yet the familiarity remains. We know each other well, and there's mutual recognition that contributes to a collaborative environment.

My primary task as a Risk Manager in the Credit Policy team is to minimize risk exposure and portfolio management while adhering to RBI guidelines. It’s a cycle of constant learning and adapting, ensuring we maintain the best market practices without compromising compliance.

These projects, among others, have not only helped me to understand the intricacies of banking, but also taught me the importance of data-driven decision making. They’ve been instrumental in shaping my analytical skills and the ability to understand and predict customer behaviour.

The Bank has cultivated a culture where even in difficult times, there's a sense of camaraderie and light-heartedness that prevails. We can have candid conversations with our teams about anything, from work-related topics to personal experiences. There is also due importance given to the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of employees. My manager has been a driving force in encouraging us to participate in well-being related activities like sports and marathons.

The Bank fosters an environment where learning and upskilling are not just encouraged but are part of our professional ethos. We are offered various role-based programs and initiatives for skill development and my manager has been instrumental in pushing me to learn new skills, such as Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and SAS which are crucial for analyzing and presenting data effectively.

Looking ahead, my aspiration within the Bank is to broaden my experience across different products. I aim to grow not as a specialist in one area, but as a generalist with a comprehensive understanding of the banking sector. I believe this holistic approach will pave the way for me to contribute meaningfully to the Bank’s success.
